ENGLISH & GOLF
St. Peter’s School of English in conjunction with Just Golf & English is offering English Language Courses with Golf.

This has proved an excellent combination giving clients an ideal opportunity to continue practicing spoken English whilst improving or learning golf at golf clubs in the beautiful county of Kent – ‘The Garden of England’.

St. Peter’s School
The school is situated in the centre of the historic city of Canterbury. The school itself is an interesting old building dating from the 15th century in a quiet side street close to the cathedral. There are 7classrooms on 3 floors with a self-access computer centre & video classroom. At break-times students get together in the sitting room where they can buy hot & cold snacks & drinks from the coffee bar or they may play table-tennis. We also have a walled garden, which is very popular in the summer.
St Peter's is accredited by the British Council & is a member of ARELS
.

Course dates
 27 March to 27 October 2007

The Language Course
Students attend English classes on 5 mornings per week. Each morning there are lessons from 09.15 to 12.45. A test is given on the first morning to determine appropriate class level. We accept complete beginners, but a basic knowledge of English is helpful. Our fully qualified teachers encourage a communicative approach to learning. Courses cover written & spoken practice in grammatical structure, vocabulary & idioms, listening, comprehension, guided & free conversation, pronunciation & intonation & reading & writing. At certain levels course books may be used. The aim of the course is to improve all communicative skills but particularly listening & speaking fluency. Progress is constantly monitored throughout the course to ensure that students are gaining the maximum benefit from their studies. The classes are multi-national with a maximum of 14 students, all books are supplied & a certificate is presented to students on their last day.
Golf Programme
The Golf Programme takes place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday afternoons & includes a balance of golf clinics with a ‘Professional Golf Association (PGA)’ teaching professional, at a local golf school & playing either 9 or 18 holes of golf with a Golf Supervisor at golf clubs in the location. The programme is structured to accommodate absolute beginners through to advanced golfers. Clients are escorted & transported throughout by our trained English Golf Supervisors. Special programmes include:-
  • Getting yourself a handicap certificate, which is recognized by the ‘English Golf Union’ and will allow you access to many European golf courses & which may be acceptable to your own National Golfing Federation. This programme usually requires a minimum of a 2 week course, during which clients must play 3 full rounds of 18 hole golf. There is a small additional local cost for this service.
  • Improve your existing handicap. Scorecards from 18 holes of golf will be vetted & signed by your Golf Supervisor. These cards should be returned to your home golf club for handicap adjustment. If you don’t already have a club handicap they will help you to obtain one.
