Canterbury

The ancient city of Canterbury is an ideal location to spend time learning or improving your English and enjoying golf in the Kent countryside (The Garden of England). Canterbury is also close to London and its international airports of Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted and London City.
In addition, Canterbury is very close to the English Channel Sea Ports & Channel Tunnel for car transport and to the Eurostar international train station at Ashford.

Pilgrims and St. Peter's Language Schools are both situated in the centre of CANTERBURY (Pop: 40,000). There has been a city on this site since A.D. 43 and examples of Roman, medieval, Tudor and Victorian architecture can easily be seen. The magnificent cathedral, first begun in A.D. 602 and the scene of the martyrdom of Thomas Beckett in 1170 is world-famous and has been the centre for pilgrimage since medieval times. It remains the heart of the Anglican Church.
There are fine museums in the city tracing its history, and many parks and buildings open to the public.
The history of Canterbury is only one of its attractions. Canterbury has become one of the major shopping centres in Kent with many leading stores having branches here as well as a twice - weekly market. All of these are within a few minutes walk of the Language Schools. Canterbury is also a University city with The University of Kent situated on a northern hill overlooking the city.

Concerts at the cathedral, exhibitions in the small art galleries and the autumn arts festival, together with a cinema providing more cultural entertainment. For relaxing, the many pubs, wine bars, cafes, cosmopolitan restaurants and clubs provide the perfect meeting places for students and tourists.
